Recently, MTH were contacted by a first-time client in Hungary; they required 12 new controlled atmospheric doors for a warehouse they were constructing to store fruits and vegetables at a chilled temperature. 

Controlled atmospheric doors by MTH are a type of specialist door system, and are used within applications where air/gas tightness is required in addition to maintaining the internal temperatures of the cold room. 

Atmospheric doors utilise MTH’s patented sliding mirror model and can therefore be used for cold rooms with temperature requirements down to just below freezing point. The operating temperature requirement for MTH’s customer was -5°C, making the controlled atmospheric door the perfect choice to suit their requirements. 

After looking at their specifications, MTH began to provide their client with their specialist cold room doors. The controlled atmospheric doors required had a blade thickness of 92mm, as well as 2 different types of gasket openings.

These doors use a double gasket system to ensure that there is optimal sealing around the door – ensuring gas/air tightness – meaning that no air can escape or enter, preventing your maintained internal conditions from being affected. 

Another option available with the MTH door range is the ability to customise elements to suit your needs. For example, this customer was able to work with MTH to customise the hatch.

A cold room door hatch is a small door that has a clear opening and is typically used for access points in cold room walls or ceilings. MTH doors are customisable, meaning that you could add a food-safe frame around the hatch to make it suitable for your requirements. 

Following the supply of the 12 atmospheric doors, MTH visited the site in Hungary to assist during installation. This meant that they were able to support their client with any questions they had, alongside advising on any potential cold room panel issues and door frame adaptions in future. 

As a result of MTH’s controlled atmospheric doors and customer-service, their client was very happy with the quality and finish that MTH doors gave them. This has been demonstrated by them placing a request for 16 additional sliding doors!
