What Are Cold Room Panels?

Making up the walls and ceilings of cold room storage, cold room panels are constructed from a three-layered design that offers excellent insulation properties as well as structural support.

An inflexible core is sandwiched between two structural boards which come in differing thicknesses based on how much thermal insulation they contain. This could be anywhere from 80-100mm depending on the type of cold room you have.

However, as well as maintaining positive or negative temperatures, cold room panels come with a range of other benefits, including:

Providing an airtight seal – cold room panels slot together to form an airtight seal, which is essential for keeping the conditioned air inside your cold room.
Offering moisture and corrosion resistance – as most cold room storage is needed to protect perishable goods, the added resistance to moisture and corrosion helps to keep your stock in the best possible condition for as long as possible while also improving the life of the cold room itself.
Improving food safety – most cold room panels are made of or coated with food-safe materials, helping to keep your hygiene levels up.

What Type of Cold Room Can Be Constructed With Thermal Insulation Panels?

Chiller cold rooms – offering temperatures +0 to +8°C
Freezer cold rooms – for stock storage between -1 to -40°C
Ambient areas – often used for food preparation, this is suited for temperatures between +10 to +30°C
Dual/multi-compartment rooms – these can provide businesses with 2 chillers, 2 freezer rooms, or a mix of cooled and frozen temperatures
