Monoblock or cold room refrigeration systems are generally suitable for either chiller or freezer applications and are designed to work for spaces based on their capacity.
This means, when browsing systems, you will need to know the size of the cold room in question and the temperature range you’re looking for, which is normally determined by your stock.
If you are looking for walk-in and cold room freezers that can maintain negative frozen temperatures between -15°C to -25°C, you will need a freezer refrigeration system.
For walk-in chillers and cold room fridges for positive chilled temperatures of between +1°C and +8°C, choose a chiller unit.
Depending on the type of system you choose, the construction of your cold room may differ.
Most through-wall refrigeration units are installed by cutting an opening in the cold room wall or panel and positioning the unit between the interior and exterior of the cold room.
A straddle unit refrigeration system, however, is mounted over the side of the refrigeration wall, extending on both sides—hence its name—before a roof is constructed over it.
