Cold Room Spares for Walk-In Cold Rooms

Our shop site has hundreds of cold room parts and spares to choose from, so how do you know which need to be replaced?

Largely, it depends on the components you have in your walk-in cold room, however the most common cold room spares that need replacing in walk-in cold rooms are:

  1. Cold Room Door Gaskets
  2. Internal Cold Room Curtains – Insulated and Non-Insulated
  3. Floor Mounted Guide Shoes & Door Mounted Guide Rail
  4. Cold Room Door Handles
  5. Top Rollers
  6. Door Frame Liners
  7. Heater System (if working incorrectly for freezers) – including heater tape, junction boxes and transformers
  8. Cold Room Doors

The Importance of Replacing Cold Room Spares

The practice of both stocking and replacing cold room spares for your chiller and freezer cold rooms is there to benefit you in the long run.

Our cold room spares have a high cost-effectiveness and can help to solve a potentially disastrous problem for your business! But, why should you replace these cold room spares?

Cold Room Doors, Cold Room Door Gaskets, Door Handles and Frame Liners: Your cold room door and its additional components are one of the most important factors to your cold room and maintaining its temperature.

If your cold room door itself has had any impact damage it will lose its structural integrity which results in a reduction in its insulating capabilities – potentially jeopardizing your products and their quality due to the lack of thermal insulation, and therefore a consistent temperature.

Cold room gaskets must be replaced as soon as you notice there is a fault. This is because they allow the maintained, refrigerated air to escape and the warm air to enter – increasing the number of potential further problems you will face with your cold room!

When it comes to employee safety, replacing your cold room door handles and door frame liners is imperative.

Failing to replace a broken cold room door handle could result in employees getting trapped in your walk-in chiller or walk-in freezer due to the components blocking their exit, and broken door frame liners could seriously injure your team if not regularly replaced once broken – which definitely isn’t something you want.

Heater Systems: Replacing your heater systems is extremely important when you’ve got a walk-in freezer cold room. Cold room heater systems are only fitted within freezer cold rooms (due to the temperature they maintain) and help to prevent ice tracking from within your walk-in freezer, as well as preventing a build-up of ice on the door frame.

A working heater system will also stop your cold room door gaskets from freezing to the door frame, which causes your cold room door to be difficult to open and therefore further damaging your gaskets – having a negative knock-on effect on your products and cold room.

Top Rollers (Applicable to Sliding Cold Room Door Systems): Your top rollers on sliding cold room doors need to be replaced because without a functioning top roller, your sliding cold room door simply can’t slide! Meaning you either can’t access your products, or worse, you get stuck in there.

Cold Room Curtains: Working in conjunction with your cold room door, insulated and non-insulated curtains must be replaced within your walk-in cold rooms. Cold room curtains work to add an additional layer of insulation to your cold room, further protecting your products at the desired temperature.

However if your curtain is ripped or damaged, it will begin to allow air to escape and enter your walk-in cold room, meaning that your refrigeration units may have to work harder in order to refrigerate your products to their required temperature – this could lead to your entire walk-in chiller or freezer’s contents needing to be replaced if the refrigeration unit is broken!

Replacing small cold room components like the above could prevent injury, save you money in the long-run, and improve the quality of your products as a result.
